Meet The Doctors

Mary Haley, DDS, FICOI, AFAAID

Dr. Mary A. Haley was raised in Brookfield, Wisconsin and is the youngest of five children. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Biology from Carroll University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with Biology Department Honors. As a student in the Honors Program, she was able to complete her undergraduate research projects in Nuclear Medicine at the National Institutes of Health and presented her work at national meetings for the American Chemical Society. She was also a music scholarship student and performed with several campus ensembles. Her favorite classes outside of her major were anything in the Arts, especially those using mixed media and metals.

Upon completion of her undergraduate degree, she entered the College of Dentistry at The University of Iowa and earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery. As a dental student she was a member of the Honors Research Program and was awarded training grants from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research. Dr. Haley was awarded a Senior Research Award and presented her research at national meetings of the American Association for Dental Research.

Dr. Haley has practiced dentistry in the Tidewater area for over 18 years. She has had the opportunity to complete advanced training in dental implants, Invisalign, sedation and cosmetic dentistry. More importantly, she believes in providing compassionate care to all. She is kind and listens to patients so she can help them make the best decision for their unique needs. After gaining experience working at various types of dental offices, Dr. Haley has finally decided on the ideal office to become her permanent home.

“I have had the unique opportunity to work in a few different types of dental offices to learn what makes a good office. After looking for a practice to purchase for the past 10 years, I was fortunate enough to find Dr. Willis. I will be completely honest, I am not a fan of going to the dentist. But if I was a patient looking for a dentist, this is where I would go for my care.”

Outside of dentistry, you will likely find Dr. Haley enjoying time with her two rescue dogs, two rescue bunnies, and chinchilla. She loves cycling and can often be found riding the road and mountain bike trails with friends. Dr. Haley is a lifetime Brewers fan, enjoys Top Golf, and just started taking Irish Dance lessons.

Dr. David Breininger

Dr. David Breininger is a dental professional who earned his dental degree from Indiana University in 1978 and completed a postdoctoral residency and M.S.D. in periodontics at Indiana University from 1983 to 1985. He served 28 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Navy Commander, and after the death of the previous practice owner in 2007, he took over the dental practice. Dr. Breininger also volunteers at the Chesapeake Carefree Clinic and participates in his local homeowners’ association, while spending personal time with his wife, enjoying biking, gardening, and family.

When he’s not in the office caring for his wonderful patients, he spends time with his lovely wife, enjoying riding their recumbent bikes, gardening, and spending time with grandchildren. 

Dr. Alan Nachman

Dr. Alan Nachman is a dental professional who earned his dental degree from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1985.  He was an Adjunct Associate Professor at Old Dominion School of Dental Hygiene from 1992 to 1999.  He opened his dental practice in Virginia Beach in 1987, where he continued to practice until 2011.  After his practice was closed, he became an associate dentist with several other dental practices in the area, where he continued to work until late June 2025.  He happily joined Haley Dental in early July 2025.

When he’s not in the practice caring for his wonderful patients, he spends time with his two senior cats, enjoys photography, off-roading, sailing, listening to all types of music, cooking, and sampling new foods.
